Men’s basketball comes up short in opener, Singh ’25 scores 21

Morgan ’25 registered his first career double-double for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Ithaca College took the lead for good late in the second half with eight straight points and the Bombers posted a 74-67 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Tuesday evening. 
 
Season Update
  • Hamilton was playing its season opener. The Continentals received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 preseason poll. 
  • Ithaca, which is a member of the Liberty League, improved to 2-0. 
How It Happened
  • Tied 64-64, Triston Wennersten was fouled while making a layup and finished off the three-point play at the free-throw line for a 67-64 lead with 1:22 left. The Bombers extended their lead on a pair of free throws and a steal and fast-break jumper in the paint. Ithaca held its largest lead at 72-64 after a free throw with 19 seconds left. 
  • Teja Singh '25 countered with a 3-pointer five seconds later, but Ithaca's Logan Wendell secured the win at the line. 
  • Trailing 52-49 midway through the second half, Hamilton went on a 13-3 run over the next four minutes. A layup and free throws by Garret Keyhani '26, a layup by Cooper Xu '25, and a fast-break layup by Hank Morgan '25 gave the Continentals a 57-52 lead with 6:46 remaining.
  • Hamilton eventually stretched its lead to 62-55 on a layup by Jalen Reese '27 with 5:16 to go. 
  • Reese dunked off a pass from Morgan and gave the Continentals a 9-2 advantage 4:35 into the first half. 
  • Keyhani buried a 3-ball for a 17-9 lead with 13:30 to go, but Ithaca responded with a 10-2 run and evened the score at 19-19 with 8:04 left. 
  • Neither team led by more than four points the rest of the half and they went into the break tied at 32-32. 
  • The game featured six lead changes and seven ties. 
  • Ithaca shot 36.8 percent (25-68) from the field, including 26.7 percent (8-30) from beyond the arc, and 69.6 percent (16-23) at the charity stripe. 
  • The Bombers scored 28 bench points to Hamilton's five. 
  • The Continentals shot 39.4 percent (26-66) from the floor and were 7-for-10 at the line.

  • Singh led Hamilton with 21 points and four assists. 
  • Keyhani recorded 18 points, nine boards and two blocks. 
  • Morgan tallied his first career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. 
  • Reese chipped in six points and five rebounds. 
  • Wendell led Ithaca with 20 points and was 8-for-10 at the line. 
  • Wennersten contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals. 
  • Cole Wissink added 11 points and seven boards off the bench. 
Next Game
The Continentals face SUNY Morrisville (1-1) in the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. Vermont State Lyndon takes on Neumann University in the other first round game at 5 p.m.
