WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Williams College's Jaquelin Nordhoff netted the equalizer in the 88th minute and the Ephs advanced on penalty kicks, 4-2, against the Hamilton College Continentals in a 2023 NESCAC Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal at Williams' Cole Field on Saturday, Oct. 28.
How It Happened
- The Continentals opened the scoring with a goal by Abby Douglass '27 seven minutes into the opening half. Hamilton earned a free kick from 30 yards out and Douglass played a ball into the box that ended up settling into the left side of the net.
- After being held to just three shot attempts in the first half, the Ephs kept knocking with 14 in the second. Williams took advantage of a free-kick opportunity after a foul around midfield. With 2:42 left, Nordhoff fired a shot into the top left corner and evened the score.
- The 12th-ranked Ephs started off hot in overtime and registered five shots in the first 10 minutes. Hamilton defenders were able to block two and Nieve Tonna '26 made a pair of saves.
- Williams took another five shots in the second overtime but failed to find the back of the net.
- After 20 minutes of overtime, the match was decided by a penalty shootout.
- Williams outshot Hamilton 27-9 but just eight were on target.
- The Ephs carried an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks.
