Men's hockey edged 4-3 at Colby, teams score six goals in third

Bulawka '26 scored his third goal and won 10 faceoffs for the Continentals

WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College's Jake MacDonald scored a short-handed goal with 2:15 left in the third period and lifted the Mules to a 4-3 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Colby's Jack Kelley Rink on Friday night.
 
Season Update
Hamilton dropped to 5-6-0 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Mules improved to 7-3-0 and 5-1 in the NESCAC.
 
How It Happened
  • Colby held a slim 1-0 edge after two periods. The teams scored three goals apiece in a wild third period.
  • Colby led 3-0 after Dan Juzych scored at 6:28 in the third.
  • Ben Zimmerman '26 started the Continentals' comeback 34 seconds after Juzych's goal. Carson Hall '26 and Nate Hawkins '23 were credited with the assists.
  • Max Bulawka '26 pulled Hamilton within one at 11:41 on assists by Alex Danis '26 and Matt Gellerman '24.
  • The Continentals went on a five-minute power play with 6:57 remaining when the Mules received a major penalty for boarding.
  • Logan Greene '24 drew Hamilton even on a power-play goal with 3:34 to go. Hall and Fred Allaire '23 had the assists.
  • MacDonald scored the game-winner with 18 seconds left on Colby's five-minute major penalty.
  • The Continentals pulled their goaltender for an extra skater in the final minute but managed just one shot on goal.
 
Notes
  • Hawkins leads Hamilton with seven assists and he and Allaire are tied for the team lead with eight points.
  • Bulawka, who recorded his third goal and seventh point, won 10 of 16 faceoffs.
  • Greene has three goals in his last two games.
  • Hall registered his first multi-point game with two helpers.
  • Gellerman collected his first assist this season.
  • Charlie Archer '25 made 19 saves for Hamilton.
  • Andy Beran turned away 26 shots for the Mules.
 
Next Game
The Continentals aim to return to the win column on Saturday, Jan. 7 when they play another NESCAC contest at Bowdoin College (8-1-1, 4-1-1). The puck drops at 3 p.m.
