No. 6 women's hockey defeats Williams in dominating performance

Continentals outshot the Ephs 42-15 and four seniors scored a goal

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Four Hamilton College seniors scored all the goals in the Continentals' 4-1 NESCAC win against the Williams College Ephs at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon.
 
Season Update
The nationally ranked No. 6 Continentals (11-3-0, 6-2 NESCAC) rebounded nicely from Friday's 1-0 loss to Williams and have won nine of their last 10 games. The Ephs dropped to 8-6-0 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
 
How It Happened
  • Maddie Tix gave Williams the lead on the Ephs' first shot on goal at 6:23 of the first period.
  • Nancy Loh '23 tied the score on assists by Emily Ferguson '24 and Claire McGennis '24 at 9:34 of the first.
  • Mya Berretta '23 put Hamilton in front during a delayed penalty call 7:26 into the second period on assists by Allie Curry '23 and Abby Smith '24.
  • A Williams player was sent to the box for interference and the Continentals capitalized with a power-play goal at 9:05 of the second on a shot from the point by Abby Kuhns '23. Maura Holden '23 and Maddie Hong '23 had the assists.
  • The Ephs pulled their goaltender with a little less than four minutes left in the third period, but Hyla Mosher '23 sealed the win with 2:10 remaining when she forced a turnover near center ice, skated into the offensive zone and scored into the empty net.
 
Notes
  • Cate Gallagher '26 made 14 saves in her second start at Hamilton.
  • Berretta leads the team with 11 points on six goals and five assists.
  • Loh tallied her team-leading ninth goal, and her and Kuhns are tied for second with 10 points.
  • McGennis tops the team with eight helpers.
  • Williams was 0-for-3 on the power play. The Continentals have surrendered just one power-play goal this season.
  • Hamilton dominated the action with a 42-15 shot advantage, including 22-3 in the second period.
  • Erin Pye stopped 38 shots for the Ephs, one day after she shut out the Continentals.
  • Hamilton has allowed a total of three goals in its last five games.

The Continentals are at SUNY Cortland (11-3-0 overall) for a non-conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
