Hamilton College's
James Ball '22 grabbed first place in the men's javelin throw in the 2022 NESCAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hamilton's Pritchard Track on Saturday.

Ball threw the javelin 51.60 meters (169 feet, 3 inches) as he qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships and nearly set a school record. He was the only athlete that recorded a distance of more than 50 meters. He gained a spot in the finals by recording a mark of 50.60 meters on his second attempt in the preliminary round, and posted the winning distance on his first attempt in the finals. Ball only joined the team for this outdoor season.

Max Steffey '22 took third place in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 1:52.88 as he finished just 73 one-hundredths of a second behind the race winner. Steffey and Ball earned all-NESCAC honors for finishing in the top three of an individual or relay event.

Andrew Harrell '23 landed in eighth place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:19.62, and
Bram Mansbach '24 finished 11
th in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.62. The Continentals ended up in eighth place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.81 seconds.
Michael Ngaw '25, Rasikh Shaukat '25, Phillip Le '24 and
Peter Cuomo '24 were the members of that relay.

Saleh Eltayeb '24 finished 10
th in the long jump with a leap of 6.66 meters (21 feet, 10.25 inches).
Hamilton finished in 11th place in the team standings with 18 points. Tufts University (177.5) edged Williams College (164) for the team title.

The Continentals compete in the 2022 AARTFC Outdoor Championships on May 18 and 19 at Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pa.
