Women's hockey blanked by No. 9 Colby, Molnar '22 makes 26 saves

Continentals dropped a pair of one-goal games against nationally ranked Mules at Sage Rink

Colby College's Nina Prunster made 25 saves and the Mules edged the Hamilton College Continentals 1-0 in a NESCAC game at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon.

The Continentals (8-8-0, 5-7 NESCAC) have lost their last four games – all against nationally ranked teams. Hyla Mosher '23 won 16 of 22 faceoffs and Sidney Molnar '22 made 13 of her 26 stops in the second period. Molnar has a 2.24 goals against average and .923 save percentage in 13 starts this season.

Nationally ranked No. 9 Colby (13-3-0, 9-3) handed Hamilton its first shutout this season. The Mules swept the weekend series against the Continentals after they clipped Hamilton 5-4 in overtime on Friday night. Jillian Mazzocca led Colby with 10 faceoff wins.

Lexi Cafiero scored with 2:04 left in the second period on the Mules' only power-play opportunity of the afternoon. Cafiero stuffed the loose puck past Molnar off a rebound after the goaltender had already turned away shots by Mazzocca and Meg Rittenhouse.

The Continentals put three shots on Prunster during their lone power play midway through the third period. Hamilton pulled Molnar for an extra skater with 1:52 remaining in the third.

The Continentals travel to 13-4-1 SUNY Cortland for a non-conference game on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
