No. 13 women’s hockey scores six goals in win over No. 10 Elmira

Continentals exploded for four goals in the second period

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Hamilton College's Evie Sheridan '26 tallied a season-high 31 saves and the Continentals posted a 6-3 non-conference win over the Elmira College Soaring Eagles at First Arena on Saturday afternoon. 
 
How It Happened
  • Elmira's Morgan Mordini scored just 1:19 into the opening period and added to the Soaring Eagles' lead with her second goal at 8:15. 
  • Allie Curry '23 sliced the Continentals' deficit in half on assists from Lydia Bullock '26 and Sami Quackenbush '24 with 6:20 remaining in the first.
  • The Soaring Eagles added their third and final goal by Mary McCafferty on a feed from Jenny Heath 6:28 into the second period.
  • Abby Smith '24 responded for Hamilton with an unassisted goal at 8:25.
  • Emily Ferguson '24 evened the score just 39 seconds later on passes from Claire McGennis '24 and Katherine Solohub '23. 
  • The Continentals added two more goals in the second period by Bullock and Bobbi Roca '24 for a two-goal cushion going into the final period. Hamilton scored its four goals in a span of three minutes and 34 seconds.
  • Nancy Loh '23 notched Hamilton's final goal with 9:41 left in the third. 
  • Sheridan made 13 of her 31 saves in the final period. 
  • Elmira held a slight 34-31 shot advantage. 
  • The Continentals tallied 10 blocked shots including three by Quackenbush.

  • Hamilton (7-2-0 overall) is ranked 13th in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.
  • Elmira (9-5-0) is ranked 10th in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll. 
  • Hamilton defeated Elmira for the first time in 12 all-time meetings. 
  • Smith tallied her fifth goal of the season and is tied for second on the team in points with six. 
  • Loh buried her fourth goal this season and the 39th of her career, and is tied for fourth in points with five. 
  • Curry and Ferguson collected their first goal of the season while Roca registered her first career goal. 
  • Bullock earned her first goal and assist of her collegiate career.  
  • Maddie Hong '23 and Hyla Mosher '23 collected nine faceoff wins apiece. 
  • Leonie Kuehberger made 25 saves in net for the Eagles.
