Men's hockey drops 3-1 decision at NESCAC foe Amherst

Hall '26 scored in his first game with the Continentals

Amherst College's Alex Wisco made 20 saves and the Mammoths posted a 3-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Amherst's Orr Rink on Saturday night.
 
Season Update
Both teams were playing their 2022-23 season opener.
 
How It Happened
  • Michael Pitts gave the Mammoths a 1-0 lead at 6:35 of the first period.
  • Josh Burke made it a two-goal advantage with 4:42 left in the first.
  • There were 17 shots on goal in the second period but the score was still 2-0 as the teams headed to the third.
  • Carson Hall '26 cut Hamilton's deficit in half on his first goal with the Continentals 1:19 into the third period. Fred Allaire '23 and Jackson Krock '26 collected the assists.
  • Hamilton had five power plays in the third and had a 6-on-3 advantage for 15 seconds late in the period. Amherst was whistled for a roughing penalty with 2:45 remaining, the Continentals pulled their goaltender for an extra skater with 1:36 to go, and finally a penalty on the Mammoths for tripping made it 6-on-3 with a minute left.
  • Hamilton got off seven shots in the next 50 seconds but none were on target.
  • Tyler Bourque finally clinched it for Amherst with a short-handed goal into an empty net in the final seconds.
 
Notes
  • Charlie Archer '25 stopped 28 shots for the Continentals.
  • Cade Groton '23 won 7 of 11 faceoffs.
  • Krock picked up his first point at Hamilton and Allaire tallied his 15th career assist and 25th point.
  • Quinton Fox had two assists for the Mammoths.

The Continentals are at 4-2-0 Albertus Magnus College for a non-conference game on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m.
