No. 13/25 men’s soccer battles to scoreless tie at Williams

The Continentals will celebrate four seniors this Saturday on Love Field

The Hamilton College Continentals fought to a scoreless NESCAC draw with the Williams College Ephs at Williams' Cole Field on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
How It Happened
  • The Continentals played a man down for 37 minutes after a Hamilton player was shown a red card early in the second half. 
  • Ben Ziegler '24 had to make six saves for the Continentals during those 37 minutes.
  • A shot by Hamilton's Luke Peplowski '25 caromed off the post in the 42nd minute.
  • The Ephs had a goal disallowed in the second half due to an offsides call.
  • Williams outshot Hamilton 20-17.
  • The Continentals held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks with all four coming in the second half.  
Notes
  • Hamilton moved to 8-1-4 on the season (4-1-4 NESCAC).
  • Williams moved to 4-1-8 overall and 2-1-5 in the conference. 
  • Ziegler collected 11 saves in goal for his fourth career shutout. He owns a 0.96 goals against average and .850 save percentage. 
  • Ben Diffley posted six saves for the Ephs.
  • The scoreless tie is the first for the Continentals since Oct. 5, 2019 at Bowdoin.
  • Hamilton blanked Williams for the second year in a row.
  • The Continentals are ranked 13th in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll and 25th in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll.
