Wesleyan University's Chase Wilson and Logan Tomlinson caught two touchdown passes apiece and the Cardinals defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 49-14 at Hamilton's Steuben Field on a sunny Saturday afternoon in October.

The Continentals dropped to 1-2 in the NESCAC while Wesleyan improved to 2-1.

How It Happened
- The Cardinals jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter and opened up a 35-0 advantage midway through the second. Wesleyan scored a touchdown on each of its first five possessions.
- Hamilton finally got on the scoreboard with 3:11 left in the third quarter after the Continentals drove 51 yards in 12 plays. Matt Banbury '23 ended a seven-plus minute drive with a two-yard touchdown pass to Josh Harmon '25. Matt LoPresti '23 gave Hamilton great field position with an interception near midfield.
- The Cardinals scored touchdowns on their next two drives and opened up a 49-7 lead with 5:38 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- The Continentals rounded out the scoring with 21 seconds to go on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Joe Cairns '25 to Joseph Campanella '26. It took 15 plays for Hamilton to march 76 yards.

Notes
- Banbury was 15 of 26 passing for 163 yards and Cairns was 4 of 8 for 33 yards in his first appearance behind center this season. Banbury has thrown a touchdown pass in all three games this year.
- Harmon and Campanella scored their first touchdowns for the Continentals.
- Tight end Mark Howrigan '23 caught four passes for a career-best 49 yards.
- LoPresti's interception was the first of his Hamilton career.
- George Johnson '23 was credited with a game-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops.
- James Bourque '24 chipped in nine tackles, including one for a loss of four yards.
- Jared Schwartz '23 added eight tackles and broke up a pass, and Christian Snell '23 made eight stops.
- Evan Reed '26 made both of his extra-point attempts. Reed is 6-for-7 on PATs this year.
- Wesleyan's David Estevez was 10 of 15 passing for 142 yards and two touchdowns, and added 61 yards rushing and another score.
- Niko Candido was 9 of 11 for 99 yards and a touchdown, and Ashton Scott completed all four of his passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.
- Wilson finished with seven catches for 108 yards and Tomlinson led all receivers with eight catches and ended up with 75 yards.
- Ben Carbeau led the Cardinals defense with six tackles including a sack.
- Harry LeGoullon and Mike Rowan also had sacks.
- Wesleyan racked up 26 first downs and 464 yards of offense, was 11 of 14 on third down conversions and 2 of 2 on fourth down, and punted just once.
- The Continentals gained 251 yards including just 55 on the ground.
- The Steuben Field video scoreboard was dedicated to former long-time assistant coach Paul Adey and his family during a halftime ceremony.
