Hamilton College's
Spencer Royal '22 recorded a hat trick and the Continentals posted a 3-2 non-conference overtime win against SUNY Oswego at Laker Turf Stadium on Wednesday.
Hamilton was playing its first game of the season while the
Lakers moved to 1-1-2. The Continentals improved to 16-2-3 against Oswego under head coach
Perry Nizzi.
The Continentals outshot Oswego 14-5 in the second half but the match remained tied and headed into overtime. Royal recorded the game winner 4:50 into the first sudden-victory overtime period.Â
Royal's first goal came at the 12:27 mark and he tallied his second 2:40 later for a 2-0 lead. Oswego put one on the scoreboard with a penalty kick at 16:46 and scored the equalizer in the 50th minute.
Ben Ziegler '24 made three saves in his first collegiate start in net for the Continentals.Â
Jude Rouhana '25 led the Continentals with six shots, Royal had five and
Luke Ehrenfreund '25 had three
Hamilton held the
Lakers to only eight shots while the Continentals took 24. Hamilton travels to Lewiston, Maine, to take on
NESCAC foe Bates College on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
