Middlebury College's Audrey Lazar scored two goals and the Panthers posted a 4-0 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Continentals (4-2, 1-2 NESCAC) host Connecticut College for another conference game on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
Maggie Reville '22 tied a season-high with 10 saves for Hamilton.
Nationally ranked No. 1 Middlebury (6-0, 3-0) dominated the action as the Panthers held a 23-2 shot advantage and were awarded 13 penalty corners to three for the Continentals. Hamilton recorded all their shots and corners in the fourth quarter. Caroline Segal was credited with two assists, Erin Nicholas scored her team-leading ninth goal this fall and Meg Fearey added her second. Grace Harlan needed to make just one stop for the shutout.
Nicholas made it 1-0 on a hard shot following a penalty corner with 4:55 left in the first quarter. Lazar made it a two-goal margin with 5:50 remaining in the second quarter when she tipped a shot attempt by Segal just inches from the goal line. Fearey tallied the third goal just 41 seconds into the third quarter shortly after a restart. She maneuvered into the circle and hammered a shot past Reville from long range. Lazar closed the scoring with 6:15 to go after a nice rush up the offensive end by Segal, who carried the ball into the circle from the right side and found Lazar near the left post.
