Women's hockey edged by No. 9 Nazareth, Smith '24 scores 3rd goal

Mosher '23 wins 16 faceoffs and gets assist in 2-1 setback against undefeated Golden Flyers

The Hamilton College Continentals were edged 2-1 by the nationally ranked No. 9 Nazareth College Golden Flyers at Bill Gray's Regional IcePlex in Rochester, N.Y., on Friday night.

The Continentals dropped to 4-3-0 overall on the season. Hamilton defeated Nazareth 3-1 on Jan. 7, 2020, in the only other meeting between these teams. The Continentals received votes in this week's USCHO.com Division III Top 10 poll.

Nazareth remained undefeated this season at 11-0-0. The Golden Flyers held a 29-24 shot advantage.

Hamilton's Abby Smith '24 drew the Continentals even with 6:11 left in the third period. Following a shot by Lisa Ito-Bagshaw '25, Hyla Mosher '23 gathered the rebound behind the net. Mosher passed it in front to the right side of the crease for Smith and she snuck it past Adrianna Brehm (23 saves) for her third goal this season. Ito-Bagshaw's assist was her second this season. Mosher won 16 of 25 faceoffs.

Elie Fallieras scored the game-winning goal 41 seconds later. Gabriella DeMeo and Madison Nichols picked up the assists. Nichols also scored Nazareth's first goal with 2:22 remaining in the second period. Hailey Redders recorded the only assist on Nichols' goal.

Hamilton's Sidney Molnar '22 made 27 saves including 12 in the first period. The Continentals pulled Molnar in favor of an extra skater for most of the final two minutes, but only managed one shot on goal.

The Continentals play another non-conference game on Saturday, Dec. 11 against Saint Michael's College at 3 p.m. in Russell Sage Rink.
