The Hamilton College Continentals and Middlebury College Panthers will play the Old Rocking Chair Classic for the 41st time on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Hamilton's Steuben Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The teams have been competing for the Old Rocking Chair traveling trophy since 1980. The chair is a symbol of the friendly rivalry between the two schools. Hamilton's William M. "Mac" Bristol III '43 and Middlebury's John M. "Jack" Kirk '39 are credited with starting the tradition, dedicating the chair at a pre-game ceremony on Oct. 25, 1980.
The Continentals last kept the Chair in 1995 when they edged the Panthers 23-20. Middlebury took it back the following year and have kept it ever since. Both teams come into this year's game with 2-5 records. Hamilton has lost its last four while the Panthers outscored Bowdoin 42-35 last Saturday.
