Hamilton College opened with a 16-4 run and the Continentals led the whole way en route to a 71-48 win over the Morrisville State College Mustangs in Union College's Sig Makofski Invitational at Viniar Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton improved to 2-3 overall and will play host Union in the tournament's championship game on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. The Dutchmen defeated College of Mount Saint Vincent 66-59 later on Saturday.
Morrisville, which is a member of the United East Conference, dropped to 2-3 as well. The Mustangs shot 28.1 percent from the floor and went 11-for-20 at the free-throw line.
Eric Anderson '22 led the Continentals with a career-high 21 points and added three steals. Anderson made all four of his 3-point attempts and is shooting 71.4 percent (15-21) from beyond the arc.
Teja Singh '25 chipped in 13 points and
Nick Osarenren '22 grabbed eight rebounds.
Elliott Tirbaso '22 and
Patrick Mogan '23 handed out four assists apiece. Hamilton held a 45-36 advantage on the glass.
Tron Smith and Tavon Price paced Morrisville with nine points apiece. Brison Hall pulled down 11 rebounds and Andy Exume dished out four assists.
Anderson kicked things off with a 3-pointer 1:13 into the first half. After two free throws by Hall, Osarenren followed with a jumper in the paint and a basket from long range. Hall's jumper from close range pulled the Mustangs within four at 8-4.
Anderson found Singh for a jumper and Tirbaso hit a shot in the paint. Osarenren collected an offensive rebound and passed to an open Anderson for a trifecta.
Christian McDaniel '24 made the second of two free throws and the Continentals had a 16-4 cushion with 14:09 left in the first half.
Morrisville didn't get closer than nine points the rest of the afternoon. Anderson beat the halftime buzzer with another 3-pointer on a pass from Tirbaso and Hamilton led 43-22 at the break. The Continentals were 8 of 15 from long distance during the first 20 minutes.
Hamilton led by double digits the entire second half. A 3-pointer by
Max Freishtat '25 gave the Continentals their largest lead of 30 points at 62-32 with 8:29 remaining.
