Hamilton College football player
Mike Cairns '22 (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit HS) was selected the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Cairns led all players with 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, and returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown in a 27-14 win at Colby College on Saturday. Cairns scored the first touchdown of his Hamilton career, and both of his interceptions have been against Colby. Hamilton defeated the Mules in Waterville, Maine, for the first time since 2006.
Cairns is fourth in the conference with 10.3 tackles per game and is eighth with three passes defended. He broke up a pass in addition to his interception against Colby.
The Continentals (2-1 NESCAC) host 3-0 Trinity College on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
