No. 20 field hockey knocks off No. 7 Trinity in shootout

Duran '22 scores in her final regular season game at Goodfriend Field

Hamilton College's Tracey Stafford '23 and Emma Liebegott '22 scored in a shootout and the Continentals knocked off the Trinity College Bantams 2-1 in NESCAC action at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on a rainy Saturday.

The nationally ranked No. 20 Continentals (8-5, 4-5 NESCAC) celebrated their last regular season home game by defeating No. 7 Trinity. Hamilton honored its 10 seniors before the game.

The Bantams (9-3, 5-3) received their goal from Jackie Frank, and Olivia McMichael made two saves. Trinity held a 25-9 shot advantage and was awarded eight penalty corners to the Continentals' three. The Bantams took 12 shots in the second sudden-victory overtime period alone.

Hamilton's Maggie Reville '22, who turned away 15 shots through four quarters and two overtime periods, stopped three attempts in the shootout and a fourth attempt was sent wide of the cage. Reville's goals against average is 1.60 and she has a .776 save percentage.

Keeley Duran '22 tied the score for the Continentals with 6:26 left in the fourth quarter. Delaney Grace '25 inserted the ball on a penalty corner to Alana King '24 and she passed to her left. Duran one-timed a shot between McMichael's stick side and the left post for her sixth goal and team-high 15th point.

Trinity recorded 16 shots and four penalty corners in overtime but Reville was up to the challenge. She came up with 11 saves including several spectacular ones in the extra sessions.

After three scoreless quarters, Jackie Frank put the Bantams in the lead with 13:16 remaining in the fourth. Caelin Flaherty was set up for the blast after the stick-stop on a penalty corner, but Frank whacked Flaherty's shot past Reville inside the left post.

Hamilton is at Wesleyan University for another NESCAC contest on Saturday, Oct. 23 at noon.
