The Bowdoin College Polar Bears pulled out a 5-4 win over the Hamilton College Continentals in the first round of the 2020 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Wesleyan University's Rosenbaum Squash Center on Friday night.

Hamilton (7-9 overall) moves on to the consolation round where the Continentals will take on Connecticut College at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Wesleyan. Hamilton is the ninth seed for the championship while Bowdoin is the eighth seed. The Polar Bears also edged the Continentals 5-4 at Wesleyan back on Nov. 23.

Sydney Soloway '22 and Ellie Arnold '22 swept their opponents in three games at the fifth and ninth positions, respectively. Arnold improved to 9-6 and Soloway evened her record at 8-8.

Liesl Guenther '21 improved to 9-4 this season and recorded the 27th win of her career when she outlasted her opponent in five games at the sixth position. Eleanor Struthers '22 was a winner in four games at the seventh position. Struthers has a team-high 11 victories this season.
