Jefferson '22 records hat trick in men's hockey 4-2 win over Bowdoin

Box Score

Hamilton College forward Jordi Jefferson '22 recorded his first collegiate hat trick in the Continentals' 4-2 NESCAC win over the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Friday night.

The Continentals (8-7-4, 7-4-2 NESCAC) split the season series with Bowdoin and sit in third place in the conference standings after picking up their third straight win. The Polar Bears (9-9-1, 5-7-1) are in seventh place after their third straight loss.

Bowdoin scored the first goal at the 11:31 mark in the first period. Bobby Murray sniped it in blocker side after dragging the puck around the left circle with the assists going to Cam Berube and Ethan Kimball.

Jefferson tied the score less than four minutes later with a backhander in front. Tommy Tanner '23 dug the puck out of the corner and picked up his third assist.

Hamilton took a 2-1 lead at the 11:33 mark in the second period when Jefferson tipped a shot by Sean Allen '21. Allen is second on the team with six assists. Fred Allaire '23 stuffed in a loose puck for his second goal and a 3-1 edge with 2:18 remaining in the second on assists from Cameron Radziwon '20 and Cade Groton '23.

The Polar Bears scored 24 seconds into the third period and cut their deficit to one. Patrick Ault scored from the point after quick passes from Ethan Kimball and Jimmy Duffy.

The Continentals scored 59 seconds later after a bouncing puck was picked up by Allen and Sterling Bray '20 sent a centering pass to Jefferson for another backhander in front. Jefferson leads the team with eight goals and 12 points.

Bowdoin pulled its goalie with two minutes left in the third and peppered Sean Storr '22 with five shots but he was up to the task. Storr logged 20 saves while Bowdoin's Alex Zafonte made 27.

Hamilton is back home on Saturday, Feb. 8 to host NESCAC foe Colby College at 3 p.m.
