The William Smith College Herons defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 6-3 in a Walker Cup (C Division) consolation playoff as part of the 2020 College Squash Association National Women's Team Championships at Yale University on Sunday morning.
Hamilton (8-12 overall) was the eighth seed in the C Division and the Continentals finished the season at No. 24 in the College Squash Team Rankings. William Smith was the sixth seed in the division. None of Sunday's matches went to five games but four of them were extended to four games.
Madison Sakheim '22 recorded her ninth win this season and the 24th of her Hamilton career as she swept her opponent at the fourth position. Sydney Soloway '22 was edged 14-12 in the first game at the fifth position, but took the next three and prevailed for her 10th victory this season.
Eleanor Struthers '22 surrendered just 15 points as she cruised to the win at the seventh position. Struthers led the Continentals with 14 victories this season and has 25 in her career at Hamilton.
Next up for the Continentals is the CSA National Individual Championships at the University of Pennsylvania from March 6 to March 8.
