Box Score Colby College's Emily Hogan scored 6:28 into the first sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Mules to a 3-2 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on Saturday.
Nationally ranked No. 19 Colby was awarded a penalty corner and Lauren Walter inserted the ball to Georgia Cassidy. Maggie Reville '22 (14 saves) denied Cassidy's initial shot but Hogan controlled the loose ball and fired it into the cage.
Hamilton (3-4, 1-3 NESCAC) got on the scoreboard first 7:01 into the first quarter. Sarah Pierpont '21 inserted the penalty corner from the right of Emily Buckman (9 saves) to Cat Donahue '21 on the near side. Donahue golfed a shot that deflected off the sticks of both Michaela Giuttari '20 and Maddie Beitler '21 before rolling into the open goal.
Colby (5-1, 4-1) tied the score 6:05 into the second quarter. The Mules sent a long centering pass from the left corner to the front of the goal where Reville stopped Jackie Hill's initial shot but Eliza Mell finished the rebound.
Giuttari gave the Continentals a 2-1 lead 1:27 before halftime with her 50th career goal. Giuttari collected a long pass from Mary Kate Sisk '22 in the left corner, deked around the defender for an open look and tucked the ball inside the near post.
The Mules notched the tying goal with 4:49 left in regulation. Cassidy sped down the right side and into the arc. Reville left the net to challenge the attack but the ball found its way to the back of the cage.
Hamilton heads to Williams College for a NESCAC game on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
