Box Score Middlebury College's Erin Nicholas scored twice and the nationally ranked No. 1 Panthers posted a 5-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Middlebury's Kohn Field on Saturday.
Middlebury (6-0, 3-0 NESCAC) -- the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Division III champions – extended its winning streak to 13 games, while bumping its home-winning streak to 25 contests. The last time the Panthers lost at home was to Hamilton in a 3-2 decision on Sept. 17, 2017.
Hamilton dropped to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Tracey Stafford '23 tallied the lone goal for the Continentals and just the second goal allowed by Middlebury all season.
With a 3-0 deficit in the fourth quarter, Stafford put Hamilton on the scoreboard with her second goal of the season. Lizzie Clarke '20 quickly restarted the ball outside the arc following a Middlebury foul. Clarke sent a centering pass in front and Stafford tipped the ball up and into the top-left corner of the cage with 10:58 remaining.
The Panthers' goals came off the sticks of Kelly Coyle at 12:08, Nicholas at 22:58 and 31:14, Grace Murphy at 52:18 and Hannah Sullivan at 59:36.
Maggie Reville '22 finished with a season-high 10 saves and Grace Harlan registered one stop for Middlebury.
Hamilton stays on the road for a non-conference game at William Smith College on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y.
