Box Score Hamilton College's Sean Allen '21 scored with 2:23 left in the second period and the Continentals edged Williams College 1-0 and handed the Ephs their first NESCAC loss at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Friday night.
Hamilton evened its NESCAC record at 2-2 and moved to 3-4-0 overall. Anthony Tirabassi '20 made 16 saves for his first shutout of the season.
Nationally ranked No. 13 Williams (5-2-0, 4-1 NESCAC) has lost two of its last three games after opening the season with four straight victories. Just five days ago, the Ephs defeated No. 5 SUNY Geneseo 6-4 on the road.
Late in the second period, Stephen Cochrane '20 gathered the loose puck, skated around the Hamilton net and passed up the boards to Sterling Bray '20. Bray quickly rocketed a cross-ice pass to Allen at the red line and the duo charged into the offensive zone for a 2-on-1. Bray's initial shot was turned away by Cosimo Lazzarino (26 saves) but Allen buried the rebound into the nylon for his first tally of the season.
Lazzarino headed to the bench with 1:13 left in the third period to give Williams the extra skater. The Ephs managed just two shots on goal as Tirabassi denied both attempts.
Hamilton hosts Middlebury College on Saturday, Dec. 7 for another NESCAC game at 3 p.m.
