Box Score Michaela Giuttari '20 scored the 52nd goal of her Hamilton College career and lifted the Continentals to a 1-0 NESCAC win against the Trinity College Bantams at Trinity's Robin L. Sheppard Field on Saturday.
Hamilton (4-6, 2-5 NESCAC) broke the stalemate with 3:25 left in the second quarter off a penalty corner. Maura Holden '23 pushed the ball in from left of the cage to Lizzie Clarke '20 on the near side and Clarke golfed a shot that Giuttari redirected past Emma Cropper (5 saves). Eva Rosencrans '17 held the previous record of 51 career goals. Giuttari's goal also tied the program record for career points at 125, a mark owned by Colleen Callaghan '11.
Trinity (5-6, 1-6) held a 17-7 shot advantage and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
Maggie Reville '22 racked up seven of her nine saves in the first quarter and kept the game scoreless after the first 15 minutes. Reville ranks second in the NESCAC with 88 saves this season.
Clarke nearly doubled Hamilton's lead in the 54th minute off another penalty corner. Giuttari stopped the push-in from Sarah Pierpont '21 and Clarke blasted a shot from the top of the arc, but Cropper made a kick save.
Hamilton immediately returns home for a NESCAC game against nationally ranked No. 7 Tufts University on Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon on Goodfriend Field.
