Giuttari '20 last minute goal lifts No. 14 Hamilton past Wesleyan

Box Score

Michaela Giuttari '20 scored twice, including the game winner with just 55 seconds remaining in the contest and the nationally ranked No. 14 Hamilton College Continentals defeated Wesleyan University 2-1 in a NESCAC game on Saturday in Middletown, Conn.

The Cardinals' Nikki Gerjarusak scored at the 25:45 mark of the first half to give Wesleyan (3-5, 0-4 NESCAC) a 1-0 lead, but Hamilton (7-1, 4-1) kept the hosts scoreless in the second half to complete the comeback.

Giuttari tied the contest 1-1 in the 56th minute when she tipped in a shot from Lizzie Clarke '20. Sarah Pierpont '21 gets credit for the game-winning assist when she found Giuttari near the post and Giuttari slipped the ball into the cage. Giuttari's four-point game put her over the century mark with 101 career points. She is just the third Continental in history to hit the milestone.

Julia Booth '19 finished the game with three saves. Wesleyan's Delaney Wood recorded a career-best 21 saves.

Hamilton travels to Medford, Mass. on Sunday, Sept. 30 for a NESCAC battle at noon against No. 3 Tufts University.
