Hamilton College dropped a 7-2 decision against the Bates College Bobcats in a Walker Cup (C Division) quarterfinal at the 2018 College Squash Association National Team Championships played at Harvard University on Friday.
The Continentals (9-10 overall) play St. Lawrence University in a consolation bracket match at Harvard at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. Hamilton is 22nd in the CSA National Team Rankings and Bates (11-7) is 19th.
Five Bobcats won their matches in three straight games as Bates swept the top seven positions on the ladder. The Bobcats were the only NESCAC team the Continentals hadn't played this season.
Marina Hartnick '18 improved her record to 11-6, including 9-4 against NESCAC opponents, with her five-game victory at the eighth position. Hartnick won the first two games and held on down the stretch with an 11-8 triumph in the fifth game. She has 26 career wins at Hamilton.
Danielle Reisley '18 posted her team-best 13th win this season as she prevailed in five games at the ninth position. Reisley won the first and third games before she clinched the match with an 11-6 victory in the deciding game.
