Hamilton College's Michael Grassey '19 and Kena Gilmour '20 scored their 1,000th career points and the nationally ranked No. 4 Continentals cruised to a 98-67 non-conference win against the Elmira College Soaring Eagles at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon.

Grassey reached the milestone with 5:28 left in the first half after he rebounded his own miss and made a short one-handed jumper in the lane. Gilmour went over 1,000 with 4:37 remaining in the first on a 3-pointer from the left wing. They are the 34th and 35th players in program history to score 1,000 career points and there are three players on the roster with 1,000. Peter Hoffmann '19 is 22nd on the all-time list with 1,190 points, Grassey has 1,005 and Gilmour has 1,014.

Gilmour led the Continentals with 21 points. Grassey, Mark Lutz '20, Sayo Denloye '20 and Spencer Kendall '21 chipped in 10 points each. Andrew Groll '19 grabbed seven rebounds, Tim Doyle '19 handed out five assists and Elliott Tirbaso '22 blocked two shots. Hamilton owned a 56-34 advantage on the glass and outscored Elmira 48-26 in points in the paint.

Jesse Adelson drained four 3-pointers and paced the Soaring Eagles (2-7) with 21 points off the bench. Henry Cuffee dropped in 10 points and blocked two shots, and Justin Porrett added nine points and four assists. Elmira shot just 35.7 percent from the floor.

The Continentals scored the first six points and led the whole way. Groll's offensive rebounds of a missed free throw and putback gave Hamilton its first double-digit lead at 13-2 just 2:39 into the half. A layup by Hoffmann put the Continentals up by 20 for the first time at 39-19 with 6:43 to go. Hamilton enjoyed a 56-29 cushion at the break as the Continentals had more offensive rebounds (11) than the Soaring Eagles had total boards (10).

Elmira didn't get closer than 21 points in the second half. Two free throws by Eric Anderson '22 gave Hamilton its first 30-point lead at 78-48 with 11:15 left, and Denloye increased the Continentals' advantage to 41 points at 93-52 on a basket from beyond the arc with 4:49 remaining. Hamilton scored more than 90 points for the sixth time this season and the Continentals average nearly 93 per game.

Hamilton doesn't play again until Friday, Dec. 28 when the Continentals travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on 5-4 Ursinus College as part of the Land of Magic Classic at Daytona Beach Ocean Center.
