Men's Ice Hockey

Men's hockey concludes the fall semester in Williamstown

Box Score

The Williams College Ephs scored twice in the third period and posted a 3-0 NESCAC victory over the Hamilton College Continentals on Saturday night in Williamstown, Mass.

After a scoreless first period, Roberto Cellini scored the eventual game-winner for Williams (5-2-1, 4-1-1 NESCAC) 3:27 into the second period. A Hamilton defender blocked the initial shot by Marcus Mollica but Cellini was right there and placed the puck inside the back post.

Hamilton (4-3-1, 2-2-1) had a chance to get on the scoreboard just before the Ephs scored their first goal. Cosimo Lazzarino (23 saves) stopped a shot from the point by Blayne Oliver '20 and the rebound trickled to the back post, but the backhander by Nick Ursitti '20 flipped over the crossbar of the open net.

Anthony Tirabassi '20 (20 saves) held Williams to one goal until late in the third period when the Ephs doubled their lead on a goal by Tyler Scott with 4:30 left. Max Fuld and Myles Cunningham picked up the assists. Tirabassi headed to the bench at 17:23 to give Hamilton an extra skater but 17 seconds later Fuld sealed the Ephs' victory with an empty-net goal.

The Continentals return to the ice on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. against Skidmore College. The annual contest takes place at Clinton Arena in support of Clinton Youth Hockey.
