Box Score

Williams College's Gregory Andreou scored in the fifth minute and the Ephs posted a 1-0 NESCAC win over Hamilton College on Wednesday afternoon at Hamilton's Withiam Field.

With the win, Williams (8-3-2, 4-2-2 NESCAC) moves into a three-way tie for third place in the NESCAC standings along with Bowdoin College and Middlebury College. Hamilton (7-6-1, 3-5-1) is seventh in the standings with one conference game remaining against ninth-place Colby College on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Waterville, Maine. The top eight teams qualify for the NESCAC championship.

The Ephs' goal came off a free kick from midfield. Scatt Macdonald served the ball towards the back side of the goal area and Andreou headed the ball into the opposite lower-left corner of the net at 4:59.

Greg Zimmerman '22 nearly tied the score with less than three minutes remaining in the second half. Jose Torres '21 sailed a cross to the penalty hash and Zimmerman snuck behind the defender for a one-timer, but the ball bounced off the right post.

Thomas Benson '22 tallied 11 saves for Hamilton. The Ephs' Aaron Schein made five stops for his fifth shutout of the year.
