Box Score 2 The Hamilton College Continentals fell in four sets against Trinity College in NESCAC action and swept Lesley University in a non-conference match at Trinity's Oosting Gymnasium on Saturday.
The Bantams (10-7, 2-6 NESCAC) prevailed by set scores of 25-20, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-19. Hamilton turned around and breezed to the three-set victory (25-11, 25-11, 25-10) against the Lynx in the afternoon.
Hamilton vs. Lesley
The Continentals (6-10, 1-8) enjoyed a 15-1 advantage in service aces and Lesley had more attack errors (21) than kills (16). Giuliana Rankin '20 led Hamilton with eight kills and two blocks. Dorothy Poucher '21 chipped in six kills and three aces. Emma Parkhurst '21 passed out 16 assists in just two sets and Jo Dine '22 was credited with nine. Meghan Wilkinson '19 served four aces, Nikki Matsuoka '21 helped lead the defense with 13 digs, and Kendall Boxe '22 came up with a pair of blocks.
Maile Counts paced the Lynx (4-13) with eight kills, Tallin Goldberg had nine assists, and Ashley Keeney collected 12 digs. Cassidy Wygonik and Nicole Pietrocola posted two blocks apiece.
Hamilton at Trinity
Trinity registered 61 kills to the Continentals' 35 in this conference matchup. Rankin led the way for Hamilton with nine kills and a season-high six blocks. Parkhurst recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 13 digs. Poucher tied a career best with five aces and added four blocks, and Boxe helped lead the defense with five blocks. Matsuoka had a match-high 17 digs and Stephanie Milam '21 contributed 14. Matsuoka is second in the NESCAC with 5.43 digs per set.
Rachel Underwood led the Bantams with 17 kills, Hanna Engstrom chipped in a dozen and Colette Scheffers had 11. Jessica Yang dished out 53 assists and picked up 15 digs, and Underwood led the way with 16 digs.
The Continentals take on Wheaton (Mass.) College in the 2018 Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Tournament at Amherst College on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
