Hamilton College split a pair of matches on Saturday at the 2017 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
The Continentals (4-12 overall) were edged 5-4 by the event's eighth seed -- Wesleyan University -- in the morning and defeated 11th-seeded Connecticut College 7-2 in the afternoon in the consolation round.
Hamilton had already defeated Wesleyan 5-4 at home back on Nov. 19 and dropped a 6-3 decision against the Cardinals at Smith on Jan. 22. The Continentals, which were seeded 10th, finished in 10th place. Hamilton fell 8-1 to seventh-seeded Bowdoin College in the first round on Friday. Wesleyan is 24th in the College Squash Association Team Rankings while the Continentals are 27th and Connecticut Coll. is 29th.
Lindsay Jadow '19, who was competing in her first NESCAC championship, completed a perfect weekend with three-game wins at the eighth position against Wesleyan's Sarah Clothier and the Camels' Phoebe Pilakas.
Charlotte Zonis '19, Perry Von Stade '17 and Katherine Bauer '18 won both of their Saturday matches. Zonis and Bauer lost just one game apiece at the second and fifth positions, respectively, and Von Stade triumphed in four games at the third position in both of her matches.
Lillie Simourian '17 (first position) and Alex Regan '17 (fourth) swept their Connecticut Coll. opponents, and Molly Pivirotto '18 outlasted hers in five games at the seventh position. Pivirotto clinched the victory by an 11-2 score in the deciding game.
Hamilton hosts three matches at the Little Squash Center next weekend. The Continentals play Connecticut Coll. again on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. and Bard College at 5:30. Hamilton takes on Colgate University on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
