Hamilton College dropped an 8-1 decision against Bowdoin College in the first round of the 2017 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Amherst College's Davenport Squash Courts on Friday.
Lindsay Jadow '19 dropped the first two games against Bowdoin's Mariela Mendoza at the eighth position but rallied by winning the last three games by scores of 11-9, 11-8 and 11-7. Jadow, who also plays on the tennis team, is competing in her first NESCAC championship.
The Continentals (3-11 overall) are the 10th seed for the championship and Bowdoin is the seventh seed. Hamilton is 27th in this week's College Squash Association Team Rankings and the Polar Bears (5-8) are 21st. The teams have played each other six times in this event and both have won three times.
The Continentals move on to the ninth place bracket in the consolation round at Smith College on Saturday, Feb. 4. Hamilton will play Wesleyan University at 9 a.m. and Connecticut College at approximately 3 p.m. Wesleyan is the eighth seed and Connecticut Coll. is the 11th seed for the championship.
