Hamilton College dropped an 8-1 decision against Colby College in the Epps Cup (D Division) final of the College Squash Association Women's National Team Championships at Princeton University on Sunday morning.
The Continentals (8-13 overall) had their win streak snapped at five matches by their NESCAC rivals. The previous matchup between the teams resulted in a 5-4 victory for Colby back on Jan. 8 at Middlebury College.
Hamilton, which was 26th in the CSA national team rankings, defeated Northeastern University and Wellesley College to reach Sunday's final. The Continentals finish the season at No. 26 in the rankings. Colby -- ranked 25th -- cruised to wins against Bucknell University and Mount Holyoke College. Seven of Sunday's nine matches between Hamilton and the Mules were decided in three games.
Alex Regan '17, who played her final collegiate match, was the lone winner for Hamilton. Regan defeated Camilla Di Galoma in three straight games (11-9, 11-5, 11-6) at the fifth position and ended up going 3-0 at the national championships. In fact, she won the last six matches of her career.
The CSA National Individual Championships at Dartmouth College is the last event on the Continentals' 2016-17 schedule. The championships begin on Friday, March 3 and wrap up on Sunday, March 5.
