Box Score The Hamilton College women's soccer team defeated Colby College 2-0 to close out their regular season NESCAC schedule on Saturday at Love Field.
The Continentals (8-4-2, 4-4-2 NESCAC) have won three straight and six of the last eight -- all by shutting out their opponents. Hamilton has shut out the opposition nine times this season for a .643 shutout percentage, and are ranked eighth this week in the NCAA Women's Soccer Division III New England Region.
Katie McKillop '19 got the Continentals on the scoreboard 4:09 into the first half. McKillop stole the ball away from Colby's Catherine Fraser at midfield and dribbled the ball down the field to the right side of the Mules' 18-yard box. McKillop sent the ball in front of the net for Cat Gambino '21 but when attempting to clear the ball Colby's Katie Senechal deflected it into the back of the Mules' goal to give Hamilton the early lead.
Hamilton scored their second and final goal with 15:25 left in the first half. Kristin Hughes '20 took the corner kick from the left side and sailed the ball to the back post for Katie Tenefrancia '19 to head past Shannon Gray (13 saves) for her second goal of the season.
The Continentals had a 25-6 shot advantage and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Emily Dumont '18 made five saves in goal for her seventh shutout, the most by a NESCAC goalkeeper so far this season.
Hamilton closes out the regular season at home on Tuesday, Oct. 24 when they host SUNY Oswego (7-6-1, 4-5-0 SUNYAC) for a non-conference game at 3:30 p.m. on Love Field.
