The Hamilton College Continentals played NESCAC rivals Colby College and Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., on January 8 and 9.
Hamilton (2-5 overall) was edged 5-4 by Colby on Sunday afternoon and dropped a 9-0 decision at Middlebury on Monday afternoon. The Continentals are 21st in the most recent College Squash Association Team Rankings while Colby is 26th and Middlebury is 15th.
Against Colby, Megan Grip '19 defeated her opponent 17-15 in the first game at the third position and went on to the three-game sweep. Katherine Bauer '18 outlasted her opponent in five games at the sixth position. Jean Beecher '19 and Natalie Burkardt '18 cruised to three-game victories at the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. Bauer and Burkardt were playing in their first matches this season after participating in Hamilton's Study Abroad program during the fall semester.
The Continentals return to the road for matches against NESCAC rivals Bowdoin College on Friday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m. and Bates College on Saturday, Jan. 14 at noon.
