Box Score The Hamilton College men's hockey team remained undefeated, edging the visiting Colby College Mules 2-1 in a NESCAC game at Russell Sage Rink Friday night.
The Continentals improved to 9-0-2 overall with a 4-0-2 NESCAC mark. The Mules, ranked 14th by USCHO.com, are now 5-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the NESCAC.
Hamilton, ranked ninth in both national polls, is the only unbeaten team at any level of men's hockey.
Neil Conway '18 and Robbie Murden '17 each scored a goal and Evan Buitenhuis '18 stopped 30 shots over the final 57 minutes.
Conway tied the score midway through the opening period after Colby took a 1-0 lead 134 seconds into play. Hamilton's leading scorer, Conway scored his fifth goal of the winter at the 12:40 mark. His second power-play goal of the season raised his total to 12 points this year. Brandon Willett '18 and Conor Lamberti '17 both picked up their fourth assist on the play.
Murden's gave the hosts the lead for good, netting his third goal 5:32 into the second. He now has 97 career points. Willett and Jon Carkeek '17 assisted on the game winner.
Hamilton killed three Colby power plays in the third period and Buitenhuis stopped all 14 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes. The Mules pulled goaltender Sean Lawrence with 73 seconds left.
Colby's Phil Klitirinos opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 2:14 into play. Lawrence made 24 saves.
The Continentals conclude their NESCAC weekend series Saturday with a 3 p.m. game against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears.
