The Hamilton College women's squash team recorded a win and two losses in western Massachusetts on Jan. 21 and 22.
The Continentals (3-9 overall) opened the weekend with a 9-0 setback at Amherst College on Saturday afternoon. Hamilton cruised to a 9-0 victory against host Smith College on Sunday morning and dropped a 6-3 decision against Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon. The Continentals edged Wesleyan 5-4 at the Little Squash Center back on Nov. 19.
Hamilton entered the weekend at No. 26 in the women's College Squash Association team rankings. Amherst was 17th and Wesleyan was 23rd. Smith is not ranked yet due to its club team status.
Perry Von Stade '17 won two out of three matches at the third position during the weekend. Von Stade rallied to defeat her Wesleyan opponent in five games after she fell behind two games-to-none. Alex Regan '17 and Katherine Bauer '18 also prevailed twice out of three matches at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Regan and Bauer won their Wesleyan matches in four games. Bauer improved her record to 4-3.
The Continentals won all nine matches in three games against Smith. Lillie Simourian '17 (first position) and Charlotte Zonis '19 (second) triumphed, and Natalie Burkardt '18 (sixth) and Molly Pivirotto '18 (seventh) were winners. Lindsay Jadow '19 (eighth) and Jean Beecher '19 (ninth) rounded out the lineup with victories. Jadow's win is the first of her collegiate career.
Hamilton travels to William Smith College for its next match on Sunday, Jan. 29 at noon.
