Box Score The Hamilton College men's hockey team lost its second straight game Friday night, falling 2-1 in overtime to host Amherst College in a NESCAC game at Amherst's Orr Rink.
The Continentals, ranked seventh by D3hockey.com and eighth by USCHO.com, are now 11-2-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the NESCAC. Amherst (ranked 13th by D3hockey.com) improved to 10-3-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the NESCAC.
Amherst's Thomas Lindstrom tallied the game-winner 1:51 into the extra session.
Hamilton took a 1-0 lead midway through the first, with Tyler Bruneteau '18 tallying his fifth goal of the year at the 11:04 mark. Gaining inside positioning on a defender in the slot, Bruneteau tipped a slap shot from Brad Smelstor '17 into the net.
Amherst dominated the second period, outshooting the visitors 13-3 and evened the contest at 1-1 at the 13:43 mark. P.J. Conlon netted his third goal of the year, gathering a pass from Patrick Mooney on the left post and quickly sending a shot through the legs of Hamilton goaltender Evan Buitenhuis '18.
Buitenhuis made 28 saves. Connor Girard stopped 22 shots in the win. Both goaltenders saved three shots in overtime.
Hamilton plays a 7 p.m. non-league game Saturday, taking on Franklin Pierce at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
