Women's soccer falls to #22 Connecticut College

Box Score

The Hamilton College women's soccer team opened a weekend home series with a 3-0 loss to visiting Connecticut College Saturday at Love Field. The Camels are ranked 22nd nationally.

Caroline Kelleher scored all three goals for the Camels (6-0-0, 2-0 NESCAC).

Kelleher opened the scoring a little more than five minutes in, knocking in a rebound of a shot taken by Alex Baltazar. Hamilton goaltender Emily Dumont '18 made the initial save at the near post, but the ball bounced back to Kelleher about five yards from the goal line and she shot back into the empty right side of the net.

Kelleher took advantage of a well-placed pass from Michelle Medina 13 minutes later, receiving the ball about 10 yards away, then eluding a defender before chipping a shot over Dumont's hands that hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced straight down before winding up in the net.

The Camels closed out the scoring early in the second half. A cross to the near post was headed away by a Hamilton defender, leading to a scrum in front of the net. Kelleher wound up with possession at the far post and scored with a shoulder-high shot.

Bryanna Montalvo stopped all seven shots she faced for the Camels, who were outshot 14-5.

Hamilton wraps up its four-game homestand Sunday, taking on the Middlebury Panthers in an 11 a.m. NESCAC contest.
