Hamilton alone atop NESCAC after blanking Connecticut College

Box Score

The Hamilton College men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the NESCAC, defeating visiting Connecticut College 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Love Field. The Continentals -- who are off to their best conference start in their six seasons in the NESCAC -- are alone atop the conference standings with a 3-0-0 record. They won for the fourth time in five games to improve to 4-2-0 overall.

The Camels (4-2-0, 1-2 NESCAC), who entered the game ranked second nationally in scoring, were held to a season-low four shots on goal.

The hosts broke the scoreless tie early in the second half when Alex Cadet '17 played a cross to the far post; Jefri Schmidt '20 headed the ball to the left, redirecting it just inside the net for his second goal in as many games.

Harris Pollack '17 stopped both shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season and lower his goals against average to 0.22; he was ranked ninth in goals against average and 14th in save percentage in the latest national statistics.

The Continentals wrap up their five-game homestand Tuesday, hosting Middlebury in a 4:30 p.m. NESCAC contest at Love Field.
