Women's soccer handles Bates for 3-1 road win

Box Score

The Hamilton College women's soccer team evened its record at 1-1 Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine, with a 3-1 NESCAC victory over host Bates College. The Continentals improved to 1-1 overall and in conference play while the Bobcats fell to 1-1 in their NESCAC opener.

Jessie Murray '19 recorded the first two points of her career, assisting on the game-winning score and adding an insurance goal in the second half.

Murray set up Amanda Becker '18 for the game winner just 65 seconds before halftime. Becker's goal was her first of the fall and the sixth of her career.

Ali Clarke '17 opened the scoring in the 14th minute, taking advantage of a poor header in the box by Bates to record her 10th career goal.

After the Bobcats pulled to within 2-1 with a goal midway through the second period, Murray gave the visitors their two-goal lead back, picking up her first collegiate goal with 22:46 left in regulation. She beat her defender on the left side and slipped a shot past the keeper that rolled into the corner of the net.

Julia Rosen scored Bates' goal, with Sarah McCarthy picking up the assist.

Emily Dumont '18 earned the win in goal; her six saves were one short of her career best.

The Continentals play their first non-league game of the season Wednesday, traveling to Oneonta for a 4 p.m. game against the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons.
