Early goal gives Nizzi 150th coaching win at Hamilton

The Hamilton College men's soccer team opened NESCAC play Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine, edging host Bates College 1-0. The win – the first of the season for the Continentals – marked the 150th Hamilton victory for long-time coach Perry Nizzi.

Mike Lubelczyk '17 scored the game's only goal less than four minutes in and Harris Pollack '17 made four saves to record his ninth career shutout.

Alex Cadet '17 set up Hamilton's goal, setting up Lubelczyk, who notched his first goal of 2016 and the third of his career. Cadet's assist was the first of his career.

Bates goalkeeper Robbie Montanaro made five saves, including four in a four-minute span of the second half.

The Bobcats' best chance at tying the score before halftime came in the 28th minute when Drew Munoz hit the post after a shot by Eric Opoku was blocked. 

Bates' last shot on goal came in the 84th minute when Pollack stopped Opoku's bicycle kick. 

Nizzi is in his 19th season at Hamilton, where he's compiled a record of 150-96-28.

The Continentals are idle until Saturday when they open their home season, hosting Trinity College in a 1:30 p.m. NESCAC game at Love Field.
