Women's squash cruises into NESCAC Championship quarterfinals

Hamilton College posted a 9-0 victory against the Connecticut College Camels in the first round of the 2016 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Trinity College on Friday night.

The Continentals (9-7 overall) are seeded sixth for the championship and are 18th in the most recent College Squash Association (CSA) rankings. Hamilton advanced to the NESCAC quarterfinals for the 10th straight year. The Continentals have never lost to Connecticut Coll. in the NESCAC tournament in six meetings. The Camels are seeded 11th for the championship and are 27th in the CSA rankings.

Hamilton will play No. 3 seed Middlebury College in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1:30 p.m. The Continentals dropped a 6-3 decision at home against the Panthers on Dec. 5.

All nine Hamilton players won their match in three games. Rachel Newman '16 defeated Ashley Arthur at the first position and recorded her 41st career win with the Continentals.

Lindsay Arader '16 triumphed at the second position and Rafiatou Ouro-Aguy '18 prevailed at the third position. Ouro-Aguy closed out Aaliyah Davidson 11-1 in the third game of their match.

Lillie Simourian '17 (fourth position), Grace Munschauer '18 (fifth) and Megan Grip '19 (sixth) were victorious in the middle of the lineup.

Charlotte Zonis '19 surrendered just nine points in her win at the seventh position. Katherine Bauer '18 and Marina Hartnick '18 were winners at the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. Zonis, Bauer and Hartnick have all won six consecutive matches.
