Hamilton College suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat against Colby College in the first round of the Walker Cup (C Division) at the 2016 Women's College Squash Association National Team Championships at Yale University on Friday afternoon. 

The Continentals (10-11 overall) are 20th in the College Squash Association rankings and Colby is 21st. Hamilton and the Mules split a pair of matches earlier this season. The Continentals won 6-3 at Mount Holyoke College back on Jan. 16 and Colby exacted some revenge with a 7-2 victory in the NESCAC Championship at Trinity College on Feb. 7.

Lillie Simourian '17 secured a team point for Hamilton when her opponent retired after the first game at the third position. Megan Grip '19 swept Camilla Di Galoma in three games at the fifth position for the Continentals.

Hamilton's Charlotte Zonis '19 and Katherine Bauer '18 added three-game victories at the sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Zonis surrendered just 16 points and is 10-1 in her last 11 matches.

The Continentals will play No. 24 Tufts University in a Walker Cup consolation bracket semifinal at Yale on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11:30 a.m.
