Box Score The Hamilton College men's hockey team wrapped up the 2016 portion of its schedule as Division III's only unbeaten team after a 3-3 overtime tie in a NESCAC game at Williams.
The Continentals (6-0-2, 3-0-2 NESCAC) scored three times in a three-minute span before the host Ephs converted three of four power-play opportunities to tie the score.
After a scoreless first period, Hamilton exploded for three quick second-period goals. The first came at 1:57 when Rory Gagnon '19 stuffed the puck in after goaltender Michael Pinios deflected a shot from Sterling Bray '20.
The Continentals' second goal came at 4:44 from Bray -- the first of his collegiate career -- on an assist from Gagnon. Jason Brochu '19 made it 3-0 just 26 seconds later with Bray and Bennett Morrison '20 assisting.
A little over a minute into the Ephs' first power play of the period they notched their first goal of the game. Luke Stickel picked up the goal, assisted by Colby Cretella and Roberto Cellini.
Williams (3-2-2, 3-1-2) scored twice in a 13-second span of the third to tie the score. Alex Hagerty's goal at the 3:04 mark pulled Williams to within 3-2 before Cretella and Cellini set up Hagerty for the tying goal.
Hamilton's Evan Buitenhuis '18 made 35 saves – including stopping the only shot on goal either team took during overtime – and Pinios turned away 22.
The Continentals are idle until Jan. 1 when they'll host Skidmore to kick off 2017.
