Box Score The Hamilton College men's hockey team moved to 3-0-1 overall with a 4-1 win at SUNY Canton Saturday night. The Continentals are off to the program's best start since the 2006-07 team.
Neil Conway '18 scored a pair of goals and Evan Buitenhuis '18 lowered his goals against average to 1.62 as Hamilton completed the home-and-home sweep of the Kangaroos. The Continentals posted a 5-2 win over Canton (1-7-1 overall) Tuesday at Russell Sage Rink.
Nine Continentals got into the scoring column, including Jon Carkeek '17, who opened the scoring with a power-play goal just 77 seconds into play. Carkeek scored his second goal of the winter 10 seconds after the Kangaroos were whistled for the first of their five penalties. Truman Landowski '17 and Jason Brochu '19 assisted on the goal.
Conway scored his first goal of the game midway through the second period with Brandon Willett '18 and Bennett Morrison '20 picking up assists.
After the hosts scored 2:08 later to pull within a goal, Hamilton added a pair of third-period goals to seal the win. The first was a power-play goal by Conway 5:24 in, followed by Landowski's first goal of the year with 2:31 to go.
Robbie Murden '17 and Conor Lamberti '17 assisted on Conway's third-period goal and Richard Court '19 set up Landowski's score.
Buitenhuis made 27 saves as Hamilton outshot Canton 36-28. Michael Cerasuolo stopped 32 shots for the hosts.
David Hopfer provided the only Canton goal, notching his first of the season with 6:19 left in the second.
The Continentals return to NESCAC action Friday, playing a 7:30 p.m. game at Trinity.
