Box Score The Hamilton College volleyball team wrapped up a weekend of home NESCAC play Saturday at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House, hosting the Bowdoin Polar Bears. The visiting Polar Bears posted a win in three sets, winning by scores of 25-16, 27-25 and 25-19.
The Continentals are now 6-6 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC. Bowdoin improved to 9-5 overall with a NESCAC record of 3-4.
After the Polar Bears posted a nine-point win in the opening set, Hamilton took control midway through the second and wound up with a 20-16 lead. The Continentals maintained their lead and were up 23-20 before Bowdoin scored four in a row, giving the visitors a chance at set point. Hamilton tied the score at 25 but Erika Sklaver ended the next two rallies with solo blocks to give the visitors a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the final set Bowdoin opened up a 24-12 lead; the Continentals fought off seven straight match points before the Polar Bears closed out the win.
Kyndal Burdin '18 led the Continentals, collecting her 10th career double-double with 22 assists and 16 digs. Christine Zizzi '18 paced the team with 18 digs and Erin Donahue '18 finished with nine kills and a pair of aces. Jessica Weston '17 had a hand in four blocks.
Caroline Flaherty led all players with 16 kills for Bowdoin; she also contributed 20 digs. Katie Doherty had 26 digs and Sklaver added eight blocks.
The Continentals host their final home NESCAC weekend series Friday and Saturday, facing Williams Friday at 8 p.m. and taking on Amherst Saturday at 2 p.m.
