Volleyball sweeps Cazenovia in home opener

The Hamilton College volleyball team won its fourth match in its last five attempts, rolling to a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Cazenovia Wildcats Tuesday at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. The Continentals – who won by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 – were playing their first home match of the 2016 season.

Hamilton is now 6-4 on the season. The Wildcats fell to 0-16.

The hosts recorded season-best totals of 49 kills and 48 assists while hitting a season-high .389 (49-12-95).

Jessica Weston '17 and Margaret O'Brien '18 recorded 11 and 10 kills, respectively, and combined to hit .486. Erin Donahue '18 added eight kills.

Meghan Wilkinson '19 finished with team-leading totals of 25 assists and four service aces – both were one short of her career highs. Kyndal Burdin '18 finished with 20 assists while playing just the first set.

Christine Zizzi '18 led Hamilton with 12 digs and Kendall Searcy '20 contributed 10.

For Cazenovia, Kassondra Kreppein finished with 12 kills and 10 digs, posting team-best figures in both categories.

The Continentals resume NESCAC competition with a pair of matches during Fallcoming/Family Weekend. Hamilton hosts Tufts Friday at 8 p.m. and takes on Bowdoin Saturday at 4 p.m.
