Box Score The Hamilton College women's soccer team clinched a berth in the NESCAC Championship Saturday, wrapping up conference play with a 1-0 win over the host Colby Mules in Waterville, Maine. The Continentals, who improved to 2-7-1 in the NESCAC and 4-7-3 overall, will be the eighth seed for the NESCAC quarterfinals and will play at the top seed on Saturday, Oct. 29 at a time to be determined.
Amanda Becker '18 scored the game's only goal as Hamilton secured a NESCAC postseason bid for the fourth time in six seasons. The Continentals previously reached the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC Championship in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
Becker's goal – her second of the year – came with just under five minutes left in regulation. The visitors had outshot Colby 25-5 up to that point before breaking into the scoring column.
Ali Clarke '17 took a shot that was blocked by a Mule defender; Becker collected the rebound and put it into the net for her third career game-winning goal.
Emily Dumont '18 made three saves to record her second shutout of the season. She preserved the lead by stopping a shot off the foot of Aliza Van Leesten with 2:14 left in regulation.
Hamilton's 26-6 advantage in shots included an 13-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Continentals wrap up the regular season Tuesday with a 3 p.m. non-conference game at SUNY Oswego.
