Box Score The Hamilton College field hockey team lost for the first time in five games Sunday, falling 2-0 to the host Tufts Jumbos in a NESCAC game in Medford, Mass. The Jumbos are ranked sixth nationally.
Hamilton is now 5-4 overall with a 3-3 NESCAC mark. Tufts improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Rachel Hamilton and Erin Sanders scored first-half goals for Tufts. Hamilton scored her third goal of the season just under 20 minutes into play. Gigi Tutoni's shot was saved by Julia Booth '19, but Hamilton found the rebound and snuck the ball in the goal.
Sanders capitalized on a penalty corner with about 10 minutes left in the opening period. Annie Artz inserted to Celia Lewis, who passed the ball to Nicole Arata. Arata found Sanders in the top left of the circle and Sanders sent a shot into the left corner of the goal for her second of the season.
Tufts outshot the Continentals 16-9, with the visitors taking eight of their nine shots in the second half.
Booth made 10 saves while Emily Polinski made six saves in the win.
The Continentals take to the road again Saturday, traveling to Amherst (ranked 13th in this week's national coaches poll) for an 11 a.m. NESCAC game.
